The Governor of Lahore and his son were trying to finish off the Sikhs and sent 20,000 soldiers to stop the 500 Sikhs led by Baba Deep Singh. Baba Deep Singh had promised God that he would reach the Golden Temple no matter what. When his head was struck by the enemy sword he lay lifeless, then God breathed life into him again, made him rise up. He slashed the mighty Khanda - the double edged sword through the enemy ranks until he finally collapsed at the outskirts of the Golden Temple .
