Guru Gobind Singh has inspired millions of people for three centuries. A prophet, husband, father, poet, warrior and leader. He came into this world as ordered by God and with God's hand behind him. Against the odds he took on the mighty Moghul Empire who had enslaved almost half the world. In serving the Supreme Truth he sacrificed his father, mother, four sons and countless Khalsa saint warriors. He lived only 42 years, but showed the potential that each of us has inside us. He experienced the true meaning of sacrifice. By fighting against social oppression he gave his entire family, all his wealth and his closest warrior-saints. But he never complained once. At what many would consider his darkest hour, he lay alone in the Jungle without anything or anyone. A rock for a pillow, he sang to God to thank HIM. With God even a rock is enjoyable, without God even a fine pillow is hell. 'O My Beloved Friend I want to tell you how your devotee feels. Without YOU fine quilts are just diseases pressing against the body, and our houses are just a pit of snakes."
